Updated 2/3/08 In order to prepare for our spring lamb arrivals and reduce the amount of mouths on our limited pasture, we are offering several of our unregistered ewes for sale at this time. They are good, proven older ewes and should still have several good years ahead of them as Icelandics lamb till they are 10+. We simply do not have space for all of our sheep, and are trying to reduce our flock till we have a more established pasture for them or are able to purchase more land. This is a horribly hard decision for us as we are quite attached to all of our sheep. We also have some excellent 2 year old ewe lambs from the 2006 breeding season (see our young ewe page for information). We will gladly put together fiber flocks with a good variety of colors if you are interested. At this time we have several blacks, some grays, some variegated, some nice white ewes, a moorit, and several unrelated rams to go with them if you want to "grow" your own fiber flock and experience the excitement of your own spring lambs. Please contact us if you would like more information on what is available. For information on reserving/purchasing/exposing fees, please see our sale terms page. Currently we have the following adult ewes for sale: I will try to add pictures soon. Rachel (SFI 11K) Rachel is one of our ewes who has papers that we can't get transfered to us. It's been quite frustrating and a huge disappointment. Rachel is a white, polled ewe who always produces magnificent lambs and has no problem lambing. Lambing record for us: 1,2,2,1. I will provide the registration information on her (who she's related to...) for anyone interested. Just email me and I'll let you know. Rachel has had some great horned lambs and one polled also. She doesn't need to be wormed often, and on our farm that's saying A LOT!!! As I have said, we haven't the perfect situation due to lack of acreage to number of sheep. Rachel is one of our original 13 ewes. $450.00 Matilda (SFI 09K): I am still debating whether I can stand to sell Matilda or not. Her registration information is available on the internet , but again, have not been able to obtain the papers. She has been wonderful and has never failed to give us some of our very best lambs. She is what I call variegated with a fleece that's different colors. She is very sweet, and I really do like her. She has produced polled lambs for us, and some with horns. Lambing record for us: 2,2,2,2,2. If I had enough land for all my sheep, I would definately be keeping Matilda. Matilda is one of our original 13 ewes ever purchased. RESERVED $450.00 Martha: This is one of my son's best ewes, and it's really not going to be fun to see her leave the farm. We have kept ewe lambs from her nearly every year we have had her, and I would love to keep this year's ewe lamb too as she has lived up to her reputation again. Martha is a nice creamy color with darker places on her fleece. She is very pretty, and one of our larger ewes. She is polled, but produces horned lambs nearly every time. Lambing record for us: 2,2,2,2,2. Martha has a nice personality. Martha is one of our original 13 ewes on the farm. $400.00 Purly: I really feel like a criminal offering Purly for sale, but I guess I need to grow up and be sensible some time. Purly is great. She is one of our biggest ewes, and one of our original 13 that we bought in 2003. She has a very nice fleece, produces huge lambs every year, milks like a Jersey cow, and is just all the way around, one of my personal favorites. She purs to her lambs when they are born in such a sweet way...thus the name, Purly. She is a dark, brown, black, with a bit of white in the fleece. RESERVED $400.00 Mary: Mary has a nice white fleece with a touch of apricot to it. Her face has apricot speckles all over it, and she has horns. She has not been our milkiest ewe ever, but has raised twins easily and does great with singles. Mary was one of our first lambs ever to be born here and she is a favorite...of course, they all are our favorites!! RESERVED $275.00 Molly: I must tell you that Molly was a good mistake! When we got the original 13 ewes, we had been told that a Suffolk ram had gotten in with Molly's mother, and 'could' have bred her. Turns out that he did. Molly was such a sweet lamb that my daughter fell in love with her, and didn't have the heart to let her go when we sold her twin. Molly does have a nearly traditional Suffolk fleece, but produces lambs that have WONDERFUL, different fleeces rather than a tight, nearly useless fleece. Her lambs are also very lively, and large. She does an excellent job raising them, and they are nice and meaty. Molly would be a wonderful choice for someone who wants to sell lamb meat while still having lambs that have lots of energy as soon as they are born. Her fleece would also make terrific felt batts for quilting and projects. She is very sweet and curious with a gentle personality. $200.00 Horns: I really don't want to sell Horns. She's one of the original 13, and has wonderful, big, beautiful lambs every year. If we sell her daughter, Trinity, this year, we will probably keep Horns. Horns has a soft, long fleece that's a strange shade of brown...not moorit, just brown. She has (bet you probably could figure it out) horns! This year she has gotten much more friendly and actually seems to trust me. Makes it even harder to consider selling her! RESERVED $400.00 Black Cheeks: I have never offered Black Cheeks for sale on the website because she is just so special to us and has spectacular lambs. She is sweet, has a good supply of milk and nice lambs that grow up to be some of our very best. Yes, all of our sheep are special, and no we don't want to sell any of them, but, somehow Black Cheeks is just more dear to us than some of the others. I am only willing to sell her to someone who will take some of her friends with her because I can hardly bring myself to let her go, and can't if she goes alone. Black Cheeks is polled, has a VERY soft blackish fleece, great lambs and wonderful personality. $400.00 Callie: Here's another ewe who has been very hard for us to think of selling. Callie is, possibly the friendliest ewe we have, with the exception of Deja. She is not a real 'milk wagon', but she did raise triplets without any assistance from us in the dinner department. She is an easy lamber, great mother, and very gentle. Her fleece is very thick and heavy with a strong curl in it. It's a brownish, but not moorit. She is a horned twin. I guess that's all for now. We may be adding more over the next few weeks, if we can force ourselves to thin out some more. Email us for more information on these ewes or lambs on our lamb pages. We will do our best to help you in making up a package that will be perfect for your situation and dreams. Get your deposits in soon as they are not yours just by expressing that you want them! |
