Raisin'
         Rhubarb
I have had very little experience
raising rhubarb in the past, so I
suspect I will be collecting
plenty of information before our
plants arrive later this spring.
In addition to the plants I
ordered earlier (which are of
unknown variety) today I
ordered Victoria Rhubarb seeds
that I am going to be looking
forward to experimenting with.
I have heard that rhubarb seeds
are not the way to go, but I am
going to make a try of it
anyhow.  They were not
expensive, so it won't hurt too
much if I don't get any plants
out of the deal in the end.  Of
course, I do love fresh rhubarb
pies and there's a
strawberry-rhubarb preserve
recipe that I am really anxious
to try out, so I will be trying to
grow the best bed of plants I can.

I am hopeful that this
page will be helpful to
you while starting
your own rhubarb
beds!  Again, this
addition to our sheep
website is going to
take some time to get
it going good, so
please come back from
time to time as we
will be working on
this new project often!

 Rhubarb

Planting:  Rhubarb needs average to rich, well drained soil.
The plants need to be set 1 1/2 inches deep in a 3 foot
wide bed.  Looks like I will be needing my shovel!
